
A massive earthquake of magnitude 6.1 on the Richter scale struck southern Greek islands early Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The epicentre was in the sea 58 kilometres north-northeast of Elounda, which is on the northern coast of Crete. It was 69 kilometres deep, as per the US Geological Survey.
