A military seafaring assault vehicle sank off the coast of Southern California, officials said on Friday. The vehicle is under hundreds of feet of water, putting it beyond the reach of divers and complicating rescue efforts for eight missing troops, they said. The search continued while waterborne operations were suspended, Marine Corps commandant, Gen. David Berger said. The focus now should be on the troops and their families, he added.
